Ringing Rush
Kansas junior guard Brandon Rush has been receiving countless calls and text messages on his cell phone from Kansas State fans.
'I've been getting phone calls all week,' Rush said. 'I don't know how they got my number.'
A poster on the 'KSU Fans' message board claimed to have found Brandon Rush's number and distributed it to other members of the board. Rush decided not to pass along any of the specific messages he's received.
'I can't even put into words right now ... they're pretty bad,' he said.
** KU coach Bill Self said that there's no timetable for when Rush will play without the brace on his surgically repaired knee. Rush said after the Iowa State game that the brace helped his knee when he fell awkwardly.
'I'm not encouraging him to take it off,' Self said. 'I think he should do what he's most comfortable with.'
** Self praised first-year K-State coach Frank Martin for the work he's done thus far.
'It's harder to coach great players a lot of times rather than good players,' Self said. 'Getting a great player to go (improve) is more difficult than getting a good player to (improve). What they've done is they've got their best players playing better, which I think is a compliment toward their staff.'
