Brandon Rush News

Kansas cruises past Sooners

Darnell Jackson had 17 points and Brandon Rush added 16 as No. 3 Kansas remained unbeaten Monday night with an 85-55 rout of short-handed Oklahoma at Lawrence, Kan.

Darrell Arthur had 14 points and Mario Chalmers added 13 for the Jayhawks (17-0, 2-0 Big 12), who have won 31 of their last 32 games and are off to their best start since the 1996-97 team began 22-0.

Blake Griffin, Oklahoma's standout freshman, injured his knee while going for a rebound 5 minutes into the game and did not return. The 6-foot-10 Griffin hobbled to the bench and then to the locker room. He returned to the bench wearing an ice pack.

Longar Longar had 21 points for the Sooners (12-5, 0-2), who trailed 40-20 at halftime.

No. 15 Pittsburgh 69, No. 5 Georgetown 60 -- At Pittsburgh: Ronald Ramon and Keith Benjamin, playing new roles because of injuries, both scored 18 points to lead Pittsburgh.

Freshman DeJuan Blair added 15 points and nine rebounds for the Panthers (15-2, 3-1 Big East), who are 4-1 since starters Levance Fields and Mike Cook were injured a game apart in late December.

Jonathan Wallace had 14 points for Georgetown (13-2, 3-1), which had won five straight overall and had beaten Pitt four of five times.

The Hoyas scored eight consecutive points to get within 47-44 but Blair's three-point play and Benjamin's drive made it 52-44.

The Hoyas, who were 3-of-20 on 3-pointers, came into the game as the best-shooting Division I team in the country at 51.6 percent, but were held to a 44.2 percent (23-of-52).
