Danny Granger For Eric Gordon Rumor Never Made Any Sense for the Clippers
I hate to break a few fans hearts when I say that the much anticipated rumor, the one that sends Eric Gordon to the Indiana Pacers and Danny Granger to the Los Angeles Clippers never ever made any sort of sense and is highly unlikely.
This deal all started through out forums from both the Pacer and Clipper fans then started to emerge in the media around the NBA Draft in April. Clipper fans wanted Danny Granger, Pacer fans wanted Eric Gordon. Before we jump to conclusions on how good this looks on “paper”
let’s actually take an in depth look at this deal for both sides.
When you trade Eric Gordon to the Pacers they gain a much needed shooter. Last season the Pacers had a group of scorers including Danny Granger, Paul George and Darren Collison. These players were a big part of a lacking shooting percentage of 41%, which was the worst in all of the NBA last season. An addition of Eric Gordon would vastly improve that number with his 45% career shooting percentage. Paul George then would take over for Danny Granger at the small forward position.
Clearly as you can tell the Pacers would be the true big winners of this deal even though it seems like Danny Granger is the better player than Eric Gordon. Yes, Granger would fill the void at small forward and provide perimeter defense that they haven’t really had, but when you look at it more in depth Granger is a scorer and the last thing the Clippers need is a scorer with Mo Williams and Blake Griffin already on the team. Eric Gordon provides the Clippers the only true shooting option, someone who can knock down any shot on the floor.
I may not be a general manager, but I have basic knowledge and this deal only points out one winner, the Indiana Pacers not the Los Angeles Clippers.
