Open Practice on March 22 to Preview NCAA East Regional
PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The brackets were unveiled on Selection Sunday, and "March Madness" has officially begun. Rutgers University will host the 2007 NCAA East Regional at the Continental Airlines Arena on March 23 and March 25, and although the games are sold-out, college basketball fans throughout the area can take part in the hoopla when the four teams that advance participate in open practices on March 22 from noon to 4 p.m.
Sixty-five teams will compete in the 2007 NCAA Tournament, and just four will advance to the Final Four in Atlanta, March 31-April 2. One of those Final Four teams will be crowned champion of the East Regional on March 25. The East Region bracket includes top-seeded North Carolina, champion of the ACC, BIG EAST Conference regular season and tournament champion and No. 2 seed Georgetown, Pac-10 regular season runnerup and No. 3 seed Washington State, and No.4 seed Texas, which fell to Kansas in overtime in the Big 12 championship game.
All open practices at the East Region are free and open to the public, and will be held at the Continental Airlines Arena. The practice schedule is as follows:
